Probably, but not for everyone. It depends on who you are, where you live, whether you qualify for a subsidy, whether you have preexisting conditions, and a lot of other things. Typically, it will cost between $300 and $900 in January. In 2013, it could cost anywhere from under $100 to over $2000. If you are a person for whom it would have cost under $100 in 2013, then it will cost more in January 2014. if you are a person for whom it would have cost over $2000 in 2013, then it will cost less in January 2014.

Have you looked at your state or the federal insurance exchange under Obamacare? If you cant find a plan for less than 8% of your annual income, you wont have a tax penalty when you file a return. If you dont file a tax return, the IRS is not empowered to collect the tax other than from your refund. The open enrollment period ends March 31. January 1 is the first date you can be covered by an insurance exchange plan if you sign up by Dec. 23. ?: Good try at explaining things and quite accurately. America is very large, with too much misinformation and too few people unable to sort out the facts.
