You are 16 now and probably the best way to find out what it costs to live on your own is to ask your parents to let you in on their monthly bills and budget. Ask them to show you the monthly bills (utilities, car insurance, cable/internet, phone, cell phone, rent/mortgage, expenses for food, gasoline, credit cards, etc. etc. etc. Once you see what they pay to keep a roof over your head and food on the table you can then get a better idea what it would cost to live on your own. With one minimum wage income you can not live on your own, buy a car, buy enough food or pay any of the necessary bills that come with living on your own. Not even 2 minimum wage jobs (at 40 hours a week) can do that. Get a job, as soon as you can and start saving. Saving is a good idea... but use that $4000 to buy that cheap, used car because that is what it will take to buy a decent one. A mininum wage job in a fast food restaurant means you work maybe 20 hours a week and that is not enough to pay for much more than your car insurance, the gas you need for the car and have some spending money to go out to the movies and buy the occasional game or other other gadget you want. Sorry... I hate to break it to you but your plan isn't going to work.
