The Statute of Limitations is only for the time period they can get a judgement and collect the debt. If they got the judgement before the statute of limitations ran out, they can most likely still collect the amount due. In most states, once there is a judgement, it's collectible for 20 years. How long it stays on a credit report, is only how long it stays on your credit report. It has nothing to do with how long the debt is collectable. If the company did not get a judgement, they would not be able to collect now.
