I'm a plumber, I know this case well. You probably have snakes in your drains. I have really had it with these darn snakes in these mother monkey pipes, I tell you what.

Depending on what type of unit you have. Here are the most common 3 handle type has the center handle to divert the water from tub to shower head, and the moving parts internally wear out there is a stem, washer and bibb seat. The 2 and single handle type have a lever on the spout which tends to wear out and the spout needs to be replaced. Once you figure out type and brand you have and isolate the worn part you may be able to order it if it is not too old. It could be just simple washer that has worn out. Good luck

You have a defective water divert-er in the tub faucet. Relatively easy to replace. Find out what make faucet you have and go to your local hardware/plumbing supplier and get a replacement divert-er. They should provide guidance from there on your specific brand. Post a free inquiry at EZBZ and wait for the replies from local services. Good luck!

Hi, Steve. Pro's answer is short and correct. I just want to note that a little water coming out of the spout, during shower use, is extremely common and not at all requiring any repair. Go after this only if there's excessive water loss through the spout, really reducing the shower flow. Dribbles, 'meh.
