A throwback to when we were small children and our moms would cut them in half for our lunches maybe. All I know is my mom would cut mine diamond style (diagonally) which made them taste better. Don't deny it you know I'm right. ;-)

Why we cut sandwiches in half before eating them because it becomes easier to pick up the pieces of the sandwiches and if you are eating the sandwiches with your friends it will be easier to finished, why I am telling you because still I am doing the same.

other than aesthetically pleasing, i believe that they are more manageable that way, especially serving guests.

easier to eat...when picking up the whole sandwhich the bread can sometimes bend and things fall out the bottom. Not like a sub where the bread is thick so it holds together better.

It is seen as manners. When I was a kid they were cut into 4, either from corner each way or from top to bottom and then across the middle to make squares. It is just a change of manners over the past 50+ years where I am Dune
