Because they want to. I'm a pescatarian and would never wonder why people eat other meats. It's their choice of life, if they like meat and want to eat it big deal. People do whatever they want.

I do find it quite weird how people weren't put off of meat from all the scandals. Some of the reasons could just be because of how apparently "amazing" the taste is. Or maybe because of health reasons. I don't even know what poultry or red meat tastes like. Only type of meat I eat is fish, which is just because it's much healthier than red meat and poultry, and because my doctor advises me to.

Because there is a <1% chance of becoming sick, and because the human body is designed to consume and benifet from the consumption of meat. Veganisim is not at all natural.

They will continue to eat meats as those things you mention are just 'An Inconvenient Truth' (Al Gore) to the meat industry Most deny global warming exists, the opposite with the meat industry, they are always trying to remedy those challenges you mention Dune

They eat it because a)They think it tastes good, and are willing to put the potential risks behind the immediate gratification of the taste b)The risk of contracting one of these diseases is not 100% c)They are pressed for time/money and only have time to eat at McDonalds d)They are unaware of the risks It's like why do people still eat produce after hearing about all the pesticides sprayed upon them. We feel he pleasure of eating them outweighs the risks of pesticides Why do people eat grains after hearing about the phytic acid and lectins and high GI. We feel the pleasure of eating them outweighs the risks of the aforementioned complications

For the same reason that people are still eating wheat-family grains, westernized soy foods and such, even though the incidences of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases are growing faster than ever.
