because that's just the way we're built. It goes with our face shape. If you're going to question that then you have to question every part of your body as well.

Our noses are the shape they are to keep the rain out. Most of the complexity you 'taste' comes from your sense of smell.

Humans are descended from primates which have noses similar to ours. Dog, cats and other animals have a wet, triangle shaped nose called a rhinarium which gives it a greater sense of smell. But humans, monkeys, and apes don't have them because we don't rely on smell as much as they do. As for the blowholes, humans are terrestrial primate adapted to live on land not water. Its all evolution and natural selection.
