why do people sit around and listen to people who bring up the past when they could just walk away!!

People who don't know how to discuss (not argue) a current situation logically retort to the past to prove points.

They either cannot let go of the past or they probably run out of arguments and tend to go to past incidents to keep the argument going and try to sound more convincing giving more evidence of them being right
