It's not a philosophical issue, it is a psychological one. Psychology is the discipline most concerned with behavior and emotions such as depression. The good news is that this mistake shows that you are a lot like others. At least 3/4 of the questions asked in this forum have nothing to do with philosophy.

When you get below a certain level of depression-it becomes very difficult to hold the act of being "normal". Even doctors don't exactly know the source of depression..theories include imbalanced brain chemicals, genetics, environment, parents. The more chronic depression is even more baffling because it can be inter twined with personality disorders, and environments not condusive to progress hope or change in most cases.

and, why would you want to be like everyone else? Don't look outward to compare, look within - be yourself; find your self - your own happiness. Others' sadness or happiness really will have no bearing on your soul unless you choose to draw in such emotions into your self as your own. So, at end, you are your own design from what you allow to mold your mind and spirit. Digest this statement and apply its understanding: ... " I am not who I think I am; I am not who you think I am; I am, who I think you think I am. " Best. // ok, went back and searched for the reference: noted below:
