Probably because the youngsters do not show any respect for others. You have to show respect to get respect.

Sadly, it is shameful that all are not treated without respect. Youngsters just might not have been taught respect and so not knowing how to show it, they are not on the receiving end.

I don't know, when one lives around a different culture race the respect seems to not be there, respect among people any age, I really am sorry to be living in the southwest usa where i find the culture and many of those not what i really want to be around. living with people who want respect, yet do not want to give respect, very oppressive and boring set this country back perhaps a good thousand years, the usa rubs shoulders with the proverbial Neanderthals now adays

To get respect you have to earn it. Many young people show no respect so they ruin it for all youngsters.

They DON'T get treated with more respect. Old people are despised and ridiculed. And not without good reason.

they used to but seeing today's society there is no respect for anyone it doesn't happen, respect has gone out of style today for every one. sad times we live in having this go on.

Elderly are respected in most cultures and were in the US 50 years ago. It is just the right thing to do. Check them out, see how much wisdom they really have. That is something you can get for free and it will help you.
