There are 4: Bush I and Bush II, Clinton and Carter. In retrospect I think Carter was the best even though he didnt score points in Congress or was a glad-hander like Clinton. Carter initiated environmental conservation, the hostage releases, the FISA court, the Egypt-Israel Peace treaty, started trade with China. Clinton signed a lot of Republican bills and he made grave mistakes. Carter's only mistake was an unsuccessful rescue attempt of the hostages in Iran, and being President during a period of high inflation. Obama was successful in his first term, rebuilding the businesses who run the economy and initiating many programs to subsidize the working person. I cannot commend him for his second term except for effort to open relations with Cuba and effort to end the Iran embargo. Those two issues are what I am interested in. And Carter never let his religion become more importance than goverance like Bush II. I never even knew Carter was a born-again Christian while he was in office.

So far, the best American President based on the near-fatal messes left in the wake of the lawless Bush/Cheney administration and the GOP totalitarian years policies is Barack Obama. I say this knowing that the propaganda mill on the far rightwing side of the political spectrum, terrified about President Obama's widespread popularity, with do their vicious worst to undermine, sabotage, or distort our Godsend President Obama.
