Intel seems better when compared.

Personally I would go with the i3. I would rather intel than amd just because Intel are reliable and some amd processors seem too cheep for their performance statistics. However it really depends on what graphics card you have. If for example you have a desktop computer with an i3 paired with an nvidia Gtx 650 or 660 you can run the latest games on high quality. Processors for desktop computers are far more powerful that laptop processors unless you have i7. But I would choose i3 for either a laptop or a desktop.

AMD A10 comes with Raedon 7660G which gives at at least twice as more power compared to intel 4000HD. It allows you to run many games in high settings. You can overclock it as well. IMO buy A10 but it requires more cooling than an i3.

AMD are famous for overheating...go for intel.. i3 is good but to enjoy all the latest games and if you have the budget go for i5 or i7.. even second generation of these processors is better than i3...cheers

Actually, GPU performance is what you need, the A10's Radeon should outperform the I3's HD graphics 4000. They're not good enough anyway, a PC desktop with a $100 videocard should do a lot better. I recommend checking Battlefield 4 benchmarks on both laptops, I think both are unplayable in medium, and barely playable in low.
