Over whelmingly the records are from the USA and English language nations the earliest records are from the UK however very late in the 1700s for a surname , so I can only resume it could be a spelling variant of another surname........... although to find your ancestry and the origin of the PERSON who is your ancestor you would need to research as a surname is just a word and at best it tells you the language heard, spoken or which influenced the first ancestor of your that took that surname only, never country origin.............. Australia & New Zealand (2) Canada (1) Caribbean, Central and South America (1) Continental Europe (2) United Kingdom and Ireland (20) United States (1,654)
