The origin of your family name is the place that the first ancestor of yours first took that name......... and to find that you have to research your ancestry...surnames are words they come from languages and the influence of languages, so at best you will find out what language your first ancestor to iuse that name heard, spoke or was influenced by, not where they came from...................

Look up your nearest ancestors first, whoever gave you the family name, and work yourself back through the generations via the relevant archives in your country - some are accessible online for a small fee. Every step you take will - ideally - take you to relevant information about each ancestor, things like birth, death, where they lived, whether they moved, what they worked with, their children, parents, siblings, spouse, etc. (not always all this, but sometimes), and sometimes there will be additional information, like anecdotes about the person or an account of some event in their life. You might get to learn exactly where in Ukraine the Воротняк branch of your family originated, and even find living relatives there who might have things to tell you.
