The Mayans first, didn't predict the end of the world. In fact, they predicted a time of change & tha there would be rain, washing away the old & sort of cleansing the world for that change whatever it was. They were very mathematical people. They had an accurate, and very complex calendar, and that's what they based the change off of. Their calendar ended (I believe) on Dec. 21, 2012 and that's why people thought "OMG! ITS ALL OVER!" but that's just something that wasn't correct, obviously, cause our world is still here ain't it?

Oasis is basically correct. The Myan calendar ran out at intervals - 2012 just being the latest. And, as with past calendars, when this one ran out, a new one was begun. Wasn't no biggie to the Mayans, to put it a bit crudely...and shouldn't have been no biggie to Americans today.

The Mayans did not predict the end of the world. They merely made a calendar out into the future and stopped in 2012. How far were they supposed to go, since no one working on the calendar was going to live until 2012 anyway?

Predicted by the Great Feathered Sky Tortoise.

The Mayans never predicted 'the end of the world'! They were projecting some very long math game into a future; a bunch of numbers come up, making a change we wouldn't see as any significant event... The Mayans calendar history is being mis-interpreted for this silly prophecy.
