You should read the book Ameritopia by Mark Levin. He discusses Utopian ideas and how they developed. Essentially if the world was Utopian the question of choice would be moot. The reason is the society is more important than the individual. People would be forced into jobs they are not suited for or that they don't want to perform. The leadership would necessarily be tyrannical. So is that a good trade off for everything being provided for by the leadership?

~~~~~~ Not likely A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy
Probably the Federation of Planets Society as seen in Star Trek. Keep in mind though, even through 5 franchises and writer creativity that can come up with the wackiest of plots, they still can't explain how the Federation economy works. They never touch the topic. I think there is a reason for that.
