I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you have learned a $2,000 lesson. You are going to have to pay this, and it's best to pay it as soon as you can. If you do not pay it, they will add late charges and interest, and eventually they will charge it off, and sue you for it. By that time, the $1900 balance will be closer to $4,000.

1) The bank (or in this case store) will not allow you to close your account until you pay all the $1889,40 (yes if you dont pay the cents you cant close it) 2)Since its a credit card if you just "forget" about it, the interest is just going to keep going up until it becomes almost unpayable, at that point the bank (or store in this case) will start taking your stuff to "pay" a little bit of the debt. this is a list of what they can take and what they cant take: 3)if you think you can proof it wasn't you the one who spent all that money, you can take legal action against your sister, the debt will be transfer to your sisters name, and you can stop worrying about it

Big mistake, expensive life lesson. You need to first confiscate card and call company and tell them not to reissue it. Then you need to see if she can return anything for a refund that would be posted to your account. You then need to beg the card issuer for help, maybe lowering the %, or offering a month off from paying. You can't close an account with a balance, and they will put you into collections if you don't pay, as it's in your name. Shame on her for doing this to you, foolish for you to let her. I'm sorry, honey.

You get sued. You would have to sue her for the money.
