There are lots of places around Orlando for nightlife both around Disney and downtown. There's a good overview here: . I liked Back Booth when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

I haven't been there in awhile, but there's Roxy's - it's pretty big with multiple dancefloors - off Hwy 50 (Colonial Drive) not far from the Fashion Square Mall. There are also some fun places in Pointe Orlando (an entertainment/shopping center development on International Drive close to the Orlando/Orange County Convention Center - check-out Howl at the Moon, B.B. Kings Blues & BBQ, the Ice Bar). You don't have to pay to get into Universal Studios City Walk but there might be a cover charge at some of their clubs (not sure). Downtown Orlando is OK, too - try to park in a well-lit area or garage, stay with your group, etc. There's a free weekly magazine called "Orlando Weekly" that's a good source for entertainment info, concerts, the bar scene, plus some interesting articles (very liberal point of view).
