there is really no such thing as "the best" it is not a one size fits all. all women are different and what works for some will do nothing for others. find what works "best" for your own cramps because we are not all the same. some women swear by midol and pamprin but neither do a thing for me. Personally I use prescription strength ibuprofen. nothing less will even take the edge off my pain.

A girlfriend of mine was prescribed mefenamic acid, and it really helped. You take it a few days before your period starts, and continue throughout it's duration.

Midol. If nothing really helps you, then I think it might be time to go to your doctor and discuss starting Birth Control. Birth Control is often prescribed for severe cramps for periods.
