I don't find it ugly, but the paint scheme could make it more attractive. In particular the second floor is surrounded by a big white square that separates it from the roof line, causing a disconnect from the triangle of the roof section. The writing looks almost invisible in the photo. So maybe more contrast between some colors and more of a blend with others to make the building less washed out and more connected rather than individual sections.

It's not really ugly, it's just "tacky" in a faux-Americana way....

It's a quaint, somewhat storybook home with a major design error. The entire window area over the front door is overdone - and poorly done. Get rid of the white painted square, first and foremost. The gingerbread all around the windows should also go or at least be painted to tone them way down. And make the sign a low rectangle that doesn't protrude into the space above. No higher than the green roof line. That whole area just looks like a grinning jack o lantern. Edit - notice how some genius put the sign half on a post and off center. Fire them.

The siding, for one thing. The eaves. The square tracing whatever you call it that contrasts violently with the gable. The color is pale and uninspiring.

IT DOES NOT GO TOGETHER...TOO MANY WERID PATTERNS MAKES CHAOS..
Answer #9 | 21/03 2017 20:32
The house color is too close the color of the stones in the driveway. Pave the driveway with black tar. That will set the house off visually.

I like the architecture, the only thing I would change is the color. Light pink isn't working for this building

1) You made it ugly in your own mind. 2) Change your mind. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It's not ugly. The architecture design is, for me, great...but the patterns that are used to create the design are just horrendous.

I think it looks nice for the most part, but don't like the color. Light blue or maybe even just plain white would look better in my opinion
Answer #19 | 22/03 2017 12:47
I would not call it "ugly" but it seems to be a fairly recent tourist pastiche of an old design of building. As it is, it is in fact quite pleasing in design and no amount of "tarting up" would change its basic intention, which is to attract tourist custom. I assume that your art teacher has asked you do do an assignment on the building.
