I had a flowing well of only 14 feet so don't let anyone tell you 70 ' is not deep enough. it entirely depends on the aquifer and source of the water itself. it IS important that the casing be entirely sealed to so no surface runoff can enter, that your pump is good/new enough reliable. Good idea to get the water tested: do this asap. Choose what might be the more expensive test to show mineral content as well as possible bio contaminants. Your water source is of #1 importance because ALL your life will be shaped by it. if you rely on a well, you need to KNOW it as you know a person. I developed my well and used it during the 12 years I owned that property. It had a foot valve in the well so the pump was inside my house- no freezing, easy access to it when it needed any maintenance.
