Cheaper to probably buy a new car. Your vehicle is 10 years old, and is European, meaning it will probably starting having problems soon (trust me, I know) and Audi's are expensive to repair. You could add a turbo charger or a super charger (if room), have it tuned, new suspension, have the cylinders rebored, ect. Edit: I guess in reality you just wanted an idea for an engine. Okay then. But in a 427 V8 twin cam, load it up, and off you go. That better?

Buy a car worth making fast

Sell the car and buy a faster car. An 03 A6 is hardly worth anything and mechanical knowledge and money it would take to transplant an engine in to it isn't worth it. It is cheaper for you to sell the A6 and buy a car with a bigger engine.

With money, time, and plenty of mechanical knowledge, you could put the venreable 4.2 litre V8 in it.

it's a mid size front drive car you can't just swap engines, you would have to change suspension brakes and even the transmission , the old full size american cars had so much room you could drop anything you wanted into the engine compartment

Sell it and get the RS. cheaper than replacing the engine transmission axles suspension and brakes.
