Its something that will run Gameboy games on other devices such as an Android phone. Examples of Emulators include GameBoid (One I use) An emulator doesn't necessarily mean Gameboy, you can get Windows emulators for Apple iMac computers, and other things like that.

An emulator in the computer world is technically a program that runs on a computer or another device and allows you to run the game or application via it. In this case, you want to run gameboy games on a PC or another device so the emulator makes this happen. Do note that not all products work properly under emulation, and may not run as originally intended.

An game-boy emulator is a software that is like a game-boy. you can play it on any device that will accept it. Heads up. the emulator is like just having the game-boy without games. the games are called ROMS or IOS. They are separate things. There are also emulators for every other system as well. I have Project 64 and Dolphin. Project 64 is Nintendo 64 and Dolphin is GameCube and Wii.
