All the solution does is let you store them without bacteria growing on them. There are also rewetting drops that keep them moist without irritating your eyes.

They will come in solution already, you can buy more though if you want to clean them. Make sure you have contact lens containers or anything that will fit them and has a tight lid, and will keep contacts submerged in the fluid at all times. Basically you open the little jars they come in and empty it into the container you have, then put them in. You do not ever wet the contacts with water, or they will start to dissolve. Most contacts say they last 30 days but really they last a lot longer. When you are done with the contacts, you put them back into the same container with the same solution, or you can empty out that solution and put more of your own in if you have it. This keeps them a little cleaner. Not using solution at all will dry them out and they will not be usable.

If you don't use the solution, you are asking for conjunctivitis (pink eye), or an even worse infection that could blind you. Even a mild infection could be extremely uncomfortable. Ever had a scratch on your cornea?mm Use the solution. It doesn't take long, and it will prevent your eyes from going blind.
