This means that your work and the way in which you present yourself is of a high standard. It's a very nice compliment to receive. :)

This means that you do not value yourself enough to take the high road. Your standards are too low, so you are satisfied with less that your best effort, less than the highest standards, are happy with "acceptable" or "adequate". "I refuse to lower my standards, so up yours!" is what I think he is saying. He may be saying that you can do better, you have potential and should not settle for less than the best. You need to accept that your worth is greater than you think, and act accordingly. Good luck. You might want to ask him for some SPECIFIC examples to clarify, however.

It means you don't expect much of yourself and thus aren't trying very hard.
