Ask them straight up if they are not proud of you. If they are honest with you you can have a serious conversation with them. If they are not honest with you, you can bring up the bad talk that you hear all the time.

Alright. First of all DO NOT do that, (it's probably too late to change whatever you did now though). They will take it as you eavesdropping and probably say another mean thing to you. Second of all, sit down and talk with them. If they do it all the time like they said, they might not realize that what they're doing is hurting you. If they listen to you, and honestly care, then they will admit their mistake and stop. If they don't, they will continue to shout at you, and that's how you tell they don't care. People often mistake what their parents not caring is. Just because they didn't send you to a private school, or get you something that they really wanted. How you can tell if they really don't care is if you tell them what they are doing is bothering you, and they do not listen and keep doing it INTENTIONALLY!!! KEY WORD IS INTENTIONALLY! If they do it again, and you call them out, and they apologize, then they do care as well. If they intentionally ignore your feelings, then they don't care.
