Use a gentle cleanser like CeraVe to wash your face. It doesn't need to be anything expensive, since it isn't on your face long enough to do much other than clean it. Gentle cleansers are good because you don't want to aggravate your skin, which can cause more problems (dryness or acne). CeraVe makes a foaming one for oilier skin or a creamy version for drier skin, or you could try a different brand. Don't scrub hard -- it does more harm than good. Just use your fingertips and wash for about a minute. If you need to remove makeup, do that separately to make sure you get it all off and rinse off any residue. (Or, micellar solution is great at getting everything off and doesn't need water afterward.) Use retin-a or something similar at night to keep skin clear, but MAKE SURE you use a good sunscreen (SPF 30 is good) during the day, every day. Sunscreen in your makeup isn't enough. You'll be glad in 10 years if you use sunscreen from an early age!

- A gentle cleanser for morning and night. Skip any that contain treatment ingredients—they only get washed off. - A serum or lotion with an antioxidant (like vitamin C, E, polyphenols, or CoffeeBerry), to be applied after morning cleansing. - A moisturizer with sunscreen to be applied after the antioxidant. - An exfoliating scrub or a microdermabrasion-type brush (to be used with cleanser) to smooth the skin once or twice a week (or less frequently if your skin is sensitive). - A moisturizer and/or retinoid treatment product for bedtime.
