We would refer to a black person as "black". African American doesn't really work outside of America. White, middle eastern, hispanic, Carribean, latino and Asian are other terms that we might use. We sometimes also use the continent, general area or specific country of a person's origin when describing where they come from. Ethnicity isn't as big of a deal here as it seems to be in other parts of the world.

BLACK British of course....NOT as hung up on race as are in US....Jamaicans etc? YES..Heard of the COMMONWEALTH.....

Unlike America we do not box people in the UK.......... many are British and that is it...... their ancestry is up to them if they wish to say they are Chinese, or Indian or Jamaican or white.............

We don't add ethnicities. We don't have "Caribbean British", Indian British etc. We think it's funny how it's the norm in USA. It's as if it's bad to be just "American"
