The character of Vito Andoloni Corleone is probably based from the boss Joseph Colombo of Colombo family. The name of the Corleone family is based from a town Corleone, Sicily whose main family was centered on Dr. Micheel Navarra as boss; (he is really a medical professional). Dr. Michele Navarra didn't like communists such as, Placido Rizzotto, and so he was kidnapped one night, and killed by Luciano (a capo of Navarra), and then thrown off Rocca Basumbra. Luciano had soldiers of his own, Salvatore "Toto" Riina, and Bernardo Provenzaro. The town Corleone became well known in the underworld, because these three figures were responsible in turning the Mafia into a dictatorship in Italy - and bringing war to the Italian State.
