They buy bulk and sell retail - a 20% mark up is good - plus costs.

Uh, for example they have to buy the products they sell, and pay their 1.4 million employees.

$400 Billion is what comes through the cash register. They have to pay the wholesale price of merchandise plus labor costs and overhead. $16 Billion is what is left.
