He probably needs to find a job where ever he is planning to move BEFORE he moves there. Don't you think?

If neither of you are happy in your curent location it sounds like a good idea to make a change. You could make a deal that you are willing to try it for two years and then you get to pick a new location.

Are you really married or just live in buddies? I mean seriously, you pose a question for spouses but you refer to SO...Which is it? It can't be both. I can see wanting to try a new area, but jobs aren't exactly plentiful so I'd be mighty careful here. New Mexico is an arid climate and SOME areas? Pretty nice to live in (NOT all) Being near a good friend? Seriously? That's the reason? Hm. I think I'd find another place or find another guy whose a real grown up, were I you. This situation reeks of insecurity; uncertainly and, well, no true relationship that one can count on... Grace

A successful partnership requires compromise. If you are opposed to moving there them he should not be pushing for it. Same goes if you suggested an area that he was completely opposed to.

I strongly agree with RobertRay. If the two of you can't decide, perhaps you should each make a compromise in which you both will be happy? I understand a situation like this can be frustrating and sometimes even frightening. If neither of you are happy where you currently live, and if moving to New Mexico is only an option because of a BFF, then maybe you two should think about other places you'd like to move to (if moving is an absolute must)? Anyway, I hope all goes well for you and I wish you the all the best! -Alexis
