always challenge yourself if its too easy. find you limits... once you have found them ... break them. the reason why people want you to start small is because most people think they can do something and then suddenly go nuts by: example picking up very heavy weight which are impossible to lift. just challenge yourself.. but do it with moderation

If it's too easy... Go faster and/or go longer and/or add resistance (incline) Mix of cardio and weight lifting gives better result imo to lose weight but the most important is overall nutrition. Intake calories should be lower than the outtake but not by too much (20% under maintenance)
