No. They're not going to get caught. The police don't care. In fact, it's likely that whoever did it is not even in your police jurisdiction. Further, you don't even have standing to pursue it. Your credit card purchases are covered after the first $50, and almost always credit card companies won't even ask for that $50. As a result, the party with the greatest loss is the credit card company, not you. Report it to you credit card company. Hope that helps.

If you have unauthorized charges on your credit card, report it to the card company. They will remove the charges and back charge the merchants. It will then be the merchants problem to track down the thief.

If anyone pursued it, then the thieves might well be caught. When the buy things online and have them shipped, it does establish a place to go look for them. But, mostly it's too expensive for anybody to do much investigating, and go through the legal process to see them jailed. Lesson: do it yourself.

Once you notify the bank of the thief, then it becomes their problem to go after the party in question. You will be credited for all the unauthorized charges
