No. There are no viruses that will infect OS X... http://rixstep.com/2/20130908,00.shtml and the OS X Gatekeeper will warn you if you happen to find (highly unlikely) anything that may harm your Mac.... http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5290

It wouldn't hurt, you can install Sophos Mac protection which is free and rather effective.

Upthread is this question about how to get rid of a virus on a MacBook: "I got a pop up with a fake website called Police Central E-crime Unit. I have googled it and it is definitely a fake virus. It won't let me close Safari, go to another webpage(I'm using my parent's laptop to ask this) or shut down/restart my MacBook." I would definitely get an antivirus/antimalware software for your MacBook. Kaspersky makes top-notch security software. You can get a 30 day free trial of Internet Security for the Mac at the Kaspersky website http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/

Yes because Mac viruses do exist (not as common as Windows) but the threat is still there.
