In San Francisco, the Sourdough Bread-bowl with Clam Chowder was practically invented there ! { it may have been but I'm not 100% sure. } I've even seen a Chili variation there as well. It's all over the US now with many variations. The greater S. F. area is world famous for fresh sea food & it's not to be missed if you're going there. AND as the Birthplace of Sourdough bread. They even sell loaves at the Airport right next to the loading gates !
