I couldn't believe I came across a McDonalds when walking through the streets. It look so out of place - lol. However there was a very nice restaurant close by, but I can't remember the name. It had fresh seafood laying out on ice in a cart. it was great.

Oh! I'm so jealous - we were there in 2006 and before that in 1993. For our 20th anniversary we had dinner at Harry's Bar - I know, I know, people will tell you it's a tourist trap. But we had a wonderful, albeit overpriced dinner there. Bellini, carpaccio, rabbit, baby artichokes, etc., and Harry came to the table to introduce himself. The room itself is lovely - the color of a bellini. Most places near the Piazza San Marco and the Rialto are not very good, but Fiaschetteria Toscana (4-5 star)is wonderful. DaFiore (4-5 star) is considered to be the best seafood place in the city by many. We also had our farewell lunch at Vini da Gigio and we'll never forget it. La Zucca gets great reviews. We ate at a lot of places that we never knew the name of. One place near the fish market area, we had wine and cichetti sitting outside at one of their 2 tables under the colonnades and felt like 20 somethings again. Take a vaporetto, walk the neighborhoods, you'll see places. Research as much as you can - but don't believe that you have to go only to the big name places to have wonderful food. We used these reviews with great success: Have a great time.
