The model 500 basic Western Electric telephone with rotary dial or touchtone dial is probably the best telephone EVER made and they should be fairly easy to find at a thrift shop or maybe ebay or craigslist.

Most any wired landline will sound better than a cell phone,,No delay, no echoes, fairly good response 300 to 3000 hz. I keep a wired cheap landline in case my cell goes dead, or lost, or there is a power failure. It will still work..(Not a cordless.)

The good old 500 base telephone, which is a rotary phone, was one of the best made phones ever, however if I were you I would buy a 2500 base phone, which is the touch tone model of the basic desk phone. In todays world many of the numbers we dial, direct you thru a number of promts asking you to dial certin numbers to get your call answered, you can not do that with a rotary phone.you can find very good used and new phone at the Telephone Pioneers wewbsite which is made up by retired telco workers.
