There are 4 interlocked benzene rings in the structure, 6 sigma covalent bonds in a benzene ring. 6 * 4 = 24 sigma covalent bonds. and there are 10 double bonds (pi bonds) in the structure. http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/benzo_a_pyrene#section=Top
