I've had braces now since 18th September, I've had them tightened and changed, so I know what you mean. They feel sensitive because the bone that holds them in has gone soft so the teeth can move, and it's painful to bite down and your teeth feel very delicate. For me the pain went away after 4 or 5 days, it can take up to 7 but you should be fine, I don't know if you have your braces all the way back or just on the fronts first, but try and eat on your back teeth because they are stronger and less likely to break the brace:) just take some paracetamol for the pain but remember it does get better! I can't even feel mine now it all feels normal, just make sure you brush your teeth properly to avoid white marks and you will have lovely straight teeth in the end! PS try to avoid breaking your braces because when broken they can be painful and you can't always get them fixed within 2 weeks :)

If patients do not experience relief from special toothpastes, more invasive treatments provided by a dental care professional can help. Adding a bonding agent to seal the tooth or grafting new gum tissue in the case of receding gums will improve sensitivity.
