Hi I used to believe that staying friends with an ex was not only possible, but a desirable thing to have happen. I've changed my opinion on this as I've seen the difficulties that being friends imposes on young people in this digital-instant-communication age. I'm old, by the way. Married, with married children. So add salt to my comments. He broke up with you; you didn't agree. You felt that you two could have worked out your difficulties. From my point of view, from the view where we, as a couple, had difficulties and worked them out, I'd suggest that his lack of willingness to work out your difficulties showed a flaw in his character, if not in the relationship. Not a fatal flaw necessarily, but you would not want to have been married and facing children problems and suddenly find that he couldn't work through the disagreements and difficulties. I could go on, but let's get to the end. Breaking up is not nice, but it may be simply a step in discovering what's next. I'd suggest that you move on and let him go completely. In the future, you may connect with someone even better. And, without being condescending, you are young... there is time for the two of you to be apart for 5 or even 10 years, and come back together again. Don't limit your life and love experiences by hanging on to your past. Learn from the past. Move on. iSee
