I think it is the manufacturer.s get out clause. If the pillow case is ruined anyway, try it you have nothing to lose. I have washed garments that say dry clean only, for example and they have turned out fine.

Could you just soak the stained part . Try scrubbing it gently with some stain removing soap first . Good luck perhaps do It a few times with the soap and rinse thoroughly . Sometimes the soap lightens the stain enough.

No don't soak it Turn the pillowcase inside out Then apply a pre wash stain remover Use a sponge to press this through the stain on the other side This will push the out Apply some more then wash according to label
