There are lymph glands under your arms that fill up with lymphatic fluid. Usually this is because you have an infection somewhere on that side of your upper body. If it showed up quickly and especially if it hurts, it is likely the gland. If it is very hard and not in the arm pit area, it is likely what Alice said, and is just a temporary blocked pore that can hurt below the skin level before it surfaces. Soaking it in warm compresses and taking any over the counter anti-inflamatory medicine will make it go away quicker. Cancer doesn't show up over night and seldom hurts when you touch it. That is why it often goes undetected.
