The award will be reported to both the state and IRS. You will likely be issued a 1099 or W2 depending on how long your employment ended. You have to report this as income to the unemployment office. They will find out sooner or later. If you try to get around it, you may be required to pay back the difference plus penalties and interest. You will likely be barred from collecting further benefits.
