It's impossible for anyone here to diagnose your mother because a professional would need first hand information and be able to ask questions in order to know for sure. It's highly unlikely she has dementia as it's rare, especially in younger people and it doesn't explain some of the things you've described. Some of what you've described sounds like borderline personality disorder, but it's impossible to know for sure. You mentioned that you have bipolar, which has a genetic component. It's possible she also has bipolar. My guess is you're asking what mental illness she has so you can find answers about how to cope with her. Knowing the answer to that probably won't help you because she is refusing to see a doctor. Instead you might want to do what you can to take care of yourself, especially since you say you have bipolar. Hopefully you are able to get regular treatment and part of that includes seeing a counsellor of some kind (not necessarily a psychiatrist, as I know many psychiatrists basically have time to prescribe your meds and send you on your way). Take a look at the resources in your community and you may find there are support groups, youth groups, etc. that may interest you and give you some relief from home life.
