The dog will probably not live that long but.. if the dog is healthier that ur mother in law dog will win...vice versa

Unknown, but I just hope your mother in law has made written arrangements for her dog, in the event she doesn't outlive him. Make sure you /your husband knows what she wants for her dog, and where her instructions can be found.

Chihuahuas have long lives - 25 years is not unusual. I think you will be inheriting that one some day !

You didn't mention your country. You also didn't mention whether your mother in law also has any health problems. Assuming you're from the USA, average life expectancy of people in your country is 79.56 years. And average life expectancy of a Chihuahua is 15-20 years. As human females live longer, and also the Chihuahua has health problems, I think it's a tie, with maybe a slight advantage to the dog.
