Hi well that is cheaper than it is here in the united kingdom.so the old beast has really started to have problems. you can't be really surprised surely after 18 years it has done well. it could also be a head gasket that must not be ruled out along with wear and tear on the engine. it has done well to last 18 years really. fuel is dearer here in the united kingdom.

I cant tell from your question if it's petrol or a diesel. IT does make a big difference to diagnosing.
