Sounds like the magenta portion of the cartridges printhead has ceased functioning mechanically. There is however a small chance that a blockage is stopping the ink flowing freely too. I cannot say with certainty without knowing the model of your printer, but many printers have an automated cleaning cycle. I would recommend running this cycle1-2 times to try and pull through the ink. Failing this the cartridge is likely to be faulty and I would contact the supplier for a replacement. If the cartridge has a printhead built into it as your question suggests, it is unlikely to be the printer at fault. I hope this helps.
