Hi No the other sections have become damaged. the wires have been broken by someone cleaning the rear window with took much vigour. so the connections have become damaged a new rear window would be required to get a window which works all the way across

The elements have been broken in places. Someone has shut the tailgate on the load in the boot. If you look very closely you should be able to spot the breaks. You can buy a repair kit from Halfords which involves painting a conducting solution across the fractures. See link.

There is only a single fuse for the complete rear windshield demister. In the case of your car, there are 3 sections. It seems that the top and bottom sections are disconnected from the main circuitry. With the aid of a flashlight, perform a close visual inspection of the demister wire embedded in the windshield to determine if there are broken/disconnected wires. Also wriggle the electrical connector at the extreme sides of the windshield to ensure connection is good. Most probably, there is connection oxidation causing high resistance. Cleaning with contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol may help. Good luck.

Theoretically there is a silver paint stuff you can buy which is supposed to repair the elements, but they never work. The only practical solution is a new rear window.
