You could do it a bit Narnia, like the part when Lucy's brothers and sisters are laughing at her because she believes in Narnia and they don't. And then later they come to realise that she was telling the truth? Possibly?

I think what will help is to think of a significant action he might be doing related to that rather than the actual act. For example he could be behind alone in the school changing rooms cleaning his football boots when someone goes looking for him. Just an idea...basically don't make it really straight forward him describing the event and also I think you can be more clever than doing the event.
