The jet black is going to overpower the purple so you won't be able to see it, go for a lighter off black and mix it with the purple that will pop the most and you should get your desired result :)

I think I would be a little hesitant when mixing hair colours. For starters if you don't understand what all the active ingredients are, how can you tell what reaction they will have with each other? You may end up with a concoction for falling out hair. I am sure you can buy hair colours which have these tints in them. I think Wella do them.
